Mid-west composer Libby Larsen weaves the poetry of T.S. Eliot, Wendell Berry, Gerard Manley Hopkins and Joy Harjo into her Missa Gaia (Mass for the Earth) — a tender celebration of the earth and a bracing reminder of is fragility. Commissioned and performed by Schola Cantorum in 1992, the Missa Gaia, paired with Bay Area composer Kirke Mechem's Earth My Song, is timeless in its message and a fitting prelude to April's Earth Day celebrations.
